Answer: Lutheran Mutual receives its financial rating from Demotech, Inc. Our most recent Financial Stability Rating® (FSR) is A’’. This level of FSR is “assigned to insurers who possess unsurpassed financial stability related to maintaining positive surplus as regards policyholders, reasonable loss and loss adjustment expense reserves and realistic pricing.” We also carry reinsurance (insurance on our insurance) through Wisconsin Reinsurance Company. Question 4: How do you manage claims?
Answer: Many small claims can be handled by a staff adjuster over the phone in conjunction with the faxing or e-mailing of receipts, estimates, etc. This has the added benefit of expediting the process and getting you payment as quickly as possible. For more complex claims we use the firm of L.J. Shaw & Co. based in Lombard, IL. L.J. Answer: Lutheran Mutual was founded upon the principle of donating excess funds to charity after policyholder surplus needs had been met. Today we continue this tradition, each year donating over 10% of written premium from surplus to local and regional evangelical ministries.
